Le New Black offers two types of custom tags to group products under a common theme or highlight a specific selection: special notices, set at variant level, and extra fields, set at product level.
This article explains how to add each type of tag, how your customers can filter products with them, and how to analyse them in custom reports. Special notice filters are also available in your downloadable line sheets. Extra field filters are not.

Adding a special notice to a variant
- Go to Collections > Products
- Open the product sheet and click the Variants tab
- In the Special notice field, enter the name of your custom tag
- Click SAVE
To add special notices in bulk, export your product data as described in Updating products data, and select the Special notice box in addition to the required columns at step 3 of that article.
Using extra fields as custom tags
Extra fields are product-level fields that can be displayed as custom filters. Each product can have up to 9 extra fields, labelled Extra #1 to Extra #9.
To use an extra field as a filter, carry out the following two steps, in either order:
- Contact your account manager and tell them which extra field to activate and the title to display for the filter.
- Fill in the extra field in the back-office product sheet of each product concerned.
The title, which is the same in all languages, then appears as a filter, with the values entered in the extra field as options. For more information, see Filtering products by custom tags.
Note: If the activated extra field contains no information, it is not displayed as a filter. The iPad application only display two extra fields.
To fill in extra fields in bulk, export your product data as described in Updating products data, and select the relevant extra field column (for example, Extra field 1) in addition to the required columns at step 3 of that article.
| For example, to let your customers filter products by drop, ask your account manager to activate Extra #1 as a filter titled "Drops". Products whose Extra #1 field contains Drop 1 or Drop 2 can then be filtered using these two options. |
Filtering products by custom tags
Special notices ("Themes") and activated extra fields appear among the filters on the Products page of your collections.
They are also available when creating an order in the Select products step by clicking on the Filter button.
Analysing custom tags in custom reports
With the Production reports option, you can create your own custom reports focused on special notices or extra fields. These reports show the share of products with a given custom tag in any order.
Note: To activate the Production reports option or find out more about it, contact your account manager.
