The order type information allows you to segment your orders in a deeper way. You can analyse orders through the different reports by using the order type filter.

Please note that there are seven pre-defined order types and they cannot be customised. 

• Order type pre-filling rules
• Setting the order type on a collection/sales catalog

Order type pre-filling rules

By default, the order type is automatically pre-filled on each order based on the order mode. 


- If the order mode is Pre-order, the order type will be filled with "Pre-order" on the order

- If the order mode is Stock-based, the order type will be filled with "Reorder" on the order


However you can apply a different order type by setting another type on the collection/sales catalog settings. To do so, read the next section below.

Setting the order type on a collection/sales catalog

To set up a specific order type on the orders for a collection or sales catalog, follow the steps below:
 

1. Navigate to Collections menu > Collections or Sales catalogs
   
   
2. Enter the desired collection/sales catalog by clicking on its name
   
   
3. Scroll down to the Order settings section
   
   
4. Click on the dropdown menu next to Order type and select the desired order type
   
   
5. Save
   
   

Please note that if your order automatic split mode is set on Split by order mode, the order type will be only applied to the order if all the collections/sales catalogs have the same order type.
