Managing product display on Le New Black
Le New Black lets you choose between two ways to manage your product catalog display :
Collection mode (default mode)
Display architecture is automatically generated from the products data you import into Le New Black -> Users browse collections in your web showroom and iPad app.
In this mode, a product and all its variants (eg. Blue cotton and Red cotton) are displayed in the product collection / category.
Pros and cons :
- Pros: simplicity. Display data is directly inherited from the product data, no need to import additional files to display products on your web showroom and iPad app
- Cons: constraining. A product and its variants can only appear in one collection, which reduces flexibility for visibility settings or simultaneous pre-order/in-stock selling.
Sales catalog mode
Display architecture is managed separately from the products data. You import products data into Le New Black, create sales catalogs and link products with sales catalogs-> Users browse sales catalogs in your web showroom and iPad app.
In this mode, a product can be displayed in many sales catalogs at once. You may also choose to link some product variants (eg. Blue cotton) to a sales catalog and some other (eg.Red cotton) to another sales catalog.
Pros and cons :
- Pros: flexibility. Sales animation is wide open with core and capsule catalogs publication. Simultaneously selling a product on pre-order and in-stock is easy. Market visibility restrictions per product variants is enabled.
- Cons: data management overhead. Aside from the products data flow, an additional data flow must be maintained to create and fill in sales catalog.
Data integration per display mode
Data integration in collection mode (default mode)
In this mode, you export products in a flat file and transfer this file onto Le New Black FTP server.
A scheduled job is run to import that file and create/update product data on Le New Black.
This data is eventually used to display products in the web showroom and Orders iPad app.
Data integration in sales catalog mode
In this mode, you export products and sales catalog items (which are basically references to sales catalog, product and variants) in two separate flat files and transfer these files onto Le New Black FTP server.
As a pre-requesite, you will have created sales catalogs in your Le New Black back-office. This is a basic operation that can be also be done via flat file import if necessary.
A scheduled job is run to import these files and create/update product data + sales catalog data on Le New Black.
This data is eventually used to display products in the web showroom and Orders iPad app.
Data integration in sales catalog mode with retail option
In this scenario, the "Retail catalog app" option is enabled and display is baed on "sales catalog".
In this mode, you export products, sales catalog items and retail catalog items in three separate flat files and transfer these files onto Le New Black FTP server.
As a pre-requesite, you will have created sales catalogs and retail catalogs in your Le New Black back-office. These are basic operations that can be also be done via flat file import if necessary.
A scheduled job is run to import these files and create/update product data + sales catalog data + retail catalog data on Le New Black.
This data is eventually used to display products in the web showroom, in the Orders iPad app and in the Retail catalog app.
